The rule set at a glance
A legal Number Match move on Veyra Play has two independent requirements:
- the values must form a valid pair;
- the cells must have a legal clear connection.
Both conditions must be true. Matching values with a blocked path are not a legal pair, and a perfectly clear path does not matter if the values themselves do not match.
Rule 1: equal numbers can match
Two active cells qualify by value when they show the same number. For example, 5 and 5 form an equal-number candidate pair.
The equality rule does not override path blocking. The cells still have to connect legally.
Rule 2: numbers that add up to 10 can match
Two active cells also qualify when their values total 10. Standard complement examples include:
- 1 and 9;
- 2 and 8;
- 3 and 7;
- 4 and 6.
This is a separate condition from equality. You do not need both equality and a total of 10; satisfying either value rule is enough before the path is checked.
Rule 3: the path must be clear
Qualifying values can be removed only when they have a legal connection with no active number blocking the route.
Veyra Play Number Match recognizes connections:
- horizontally;
- vertically;
- diagonally;
- across the end of one row into the start of the next.
The path rule is evaluated against the current board, so a connection can become legal after other cells are removed.
Rule 4: holes are transparent
Removing a pair leaves empty cells behind. Those holes remain inside a partially occupied row, but they are transparent when later connection paths are checked.
An active number can block a route. A hole created by a previous removal does not.
This is why opening space is part of the puzzle rather than just a visual side effect.
Rule 5: individual cells do not slide together
After a normal pair removal, the remaining active cells keep their positions within the current row layout. Old holes are not automatically filled by neighboring cells.
That preserves the geometry created by earlier moves and lets those holes participate in future path checks.
Rule 6: a fully empty row collapses
When every active number in a row has been removed, the whole empty row disappears and the rows below shift upward.
Row collapse is different from ordinary cell movement: partially occupied rows keep their gaps, while completely empty rows are removed from the board structure.
Because collapse changes vertical and diagonal alignment, always re-check the board after clearing the last active number from a row.
Rule 7: Add Numbers appends the remaining active values
Add Numbers takes the active numbers still present on the board, copies them in board order and appends the copies after the final existing cell.
It does not:
- fill holes left by earlier matches;
- shuffle the active numbers;
- move existing active cells into new positions before appending the copies.
The Add allowance belongs to the Stage and is limited for that Stage.
Rule 8: Add Numbers is a choice, not an automatic fallback
Veyra Play allows Add Numbers to be used even when a normal legal pair still exists.
That means the rule engine does not require you to prove there are no moves before adding. Whether adding early is a good idea is a strategy question, not a legality question.
Rule 9: puzzles run inside Stages and Levels
Veyra Play uses three progression terms:

Moving to a new Stage resets resources that belong to the Stage. The basic pair and path rules remain the same unless a future published ruleset explicitly says otherwise.
Rules and strategy are different
The rules tell you which actions are legal. They do not tell you which legal pair is best to remove first or when spending Add Numbers is strategically strongest.
For solving a board, keep three questions separate: Do the values match? Is the path clear? What geometry will this removal create? The first two decide legality; the third is where strategy begins.
FAQ
Can two equal numbers match if they do not add up to 10?
Yes. Equality and “sum to 10” are alternative value conditions. If the two active numbers are equal and the connection path is legal, the pair qualifies.
Can I match through a previously cleared cell?
Yes. A removed cell becomes a hole, and holes are transparent for later path checks. Active numbers are what block the route.
Does Add Numbers refill empty spaces?
No. It appends copies of the remaining active numbers after the current board. Existing holes stay where they are.
When does a row disappear?
Only when the row has no active numbers left. A row with even one active number remains in the board and keeps its holes.
